GREAT NEWS ABOUT SUMMER!!!
Summer has been adopted.
Summer now lives permanently with her adoptive family of two humans, 3 goats, 1 dog and 3 horses. She is almost 1 year old and is now able to get herself up and walk around. She still has an unusual gait but, in all other regards she is PERFECT!
Late in the afternoon of Sunday, 19 February 2023 we received a call about a kid goat who was in desperate need of help.
Information about exactly what was wrong with the kid was limited, all we knew was that she was 5 weeks old, not drinking well and was unable to stand. We were told she had been ill for almost a week and was getting progressively worse.
We knew right away that we had to at least go and find our what was going on but what we found when we arrived we weren’t quite prepared for!
When we arrived Summer was wrapped in a padded blanket. She was limp, her head lolling to one side, she was lifeless.
Since then Summer has fought hard to survive.
She is still unable to stand or walk or even sit up unassisted.
Summer requires around the clock care, daily physiotherapy and massage and hand feeding. She is under constant monitoring.
Summer’s current estimated weekly costs are around $80/wk.
