Spring is here — the sun is shining, the days are longer, the weather is warming up. Normally, this means lush grass growth at the sanctuary. But there’s one vital ingredient missing this year: rain.

Here at Mt Mee, QLD, we’ve had barely 3.6mm of rain in September. The paddocks are bare. The grass simply isn’t growing. That means our residents are relying entirely on purchased feed — and right now, the bills are overwhelming.

👉 Our cattle eat 8–10 round bales of hay every week, at a cost of $180 each.
👉 That doesn’t include small bales for other residents, pellets, fruit & veg, supplements, or medications.
👉 We’ve just received two urgent hay bills — one for $1,408 and another for $2,816 — totalling $4,224.

We’re doing everything we can, but we cannot shoulder this alone. Without your help, we simply cannot keep up with these costs — and our beautiful residents, over 30 cattle who rely on us for safety and care, will go hungry.
