Help Us Protect Our Cattle From Summer Flies 🐄🪰
Because comfort, health, and preventative care matter
Summer flies are relentless—and for cattle they’re far more than a nuisance. Constant biting causes pain, stress, skin damage, hair loss and open sores, and increases the risk of infection. Fly pressure also disrupts grazing and rest, impacting overall wellbeing. Preventing this is a critical part of providing exceptional, compassionate care.
What Actually Works
Over time, we’ve tried many fly-control strategies. The most effective solution we’ve found is self-administering cattle curtains, brushes and oilers—tools the cattle can use themselves, multiple times a day, exactly when they need relief.
The units that work best for us are the Scratch Brush and Oiler from Vink. They’re durable, proven, and used daily by our cattle.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Each unit costs around $850.
We currently have 4 units, but we need at least 2 more to ensure every paddock has one. This guarantees consistent access for every resident, no matter where they’re grazing.
We don’t run big fundraising campaigns. We only ask when it’s important—when the outcome is practical, preventative, and directly improves the lives of the animals in our care. This is one of those times.
Our Goal
🎯 Raise funds for 2 additional Scratch Brush & Oiler units
That’s $1,700 to provide whole-of-sanctuary fly relief through the toughest months of the year.
