Pepper, Poppy, Nutmeg and Dill

Pepper, Poppy, Nutmeg & Dill are disabled ducks in our care who require ongoing specialised support to ensure they are able to live safe, comfortable and enriched lives.

Pepper, Poppy & Nutmeg came into care suffering from severe mobility issues caused by angular limb deformities — a condition where the bones of the legs develop at abnormal angles, significantly impacting mobility and long-term comfort. Following specialist veterinary assessment, it was determined that surgical intervention was unfortunately not a viable option for the girls, meaning their care now focuses on supportive management, accessibility and quality of life.

Dill is one of the newest additions to the flock — a sweet duck with a scissor beak and scoliosis believed to have been caused by trauma rather than genetics. Their condition presents its own unique challenges and requires tailored feeding, monitoring and ongoing supportive care.

Together, these four ducks now have a specially designed accessible enclosure complete with a deep therapy pond, accessible shelter and modifications aimed at helping them move about more comfortably and naturally.

Caring for disabled animals is complex, ongoing and costly. From specialist avian veterinary care and medications, to mobility support, accessible housing and tailored nutrition, every aspect of their care is designed around their individual needs.

By sponsoring Pepper, Poppy, Nutmeg & Dill, you directly help provide the specialised care, comfort and safety these very special ducks deserve.

Your support gives them the opportunity not just to survive — but to truly thrive 💛
