CRANKY’S FARM IS MOVING!!!

For a long while now it has been obvious to the founders and board members of Cranky’s FARM that their current property is not sustainable into the future.

After much consideration and searching we have decided to move the sanctuary to the beautiful suburb of Mount Mee.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY:

The property features 60 amazing, semi-treed acres, a large spring fed dam, cattle yards, separate paddocks and stables.

On site is a 100 year old federation style farm residence.

Mount Mee has a wonderful high long-term average rainfall and is located only 1 hour north of the Brisbane CBD and the Sunshine Coast.

The move and upgrade of the property will take place over three phases spread out over the next twenty-four months.

Phase 1:

During October we will be:

  • Upgrading fencing
  • Building a pig habitat
  • Relocating the residents

This will be a major undertaking and will incur significant cost.

We will be holding some working bees and will need people to help with the transportation of the residents.

Phase benefits:

Relocating the residents to Mount Mee will provide them with a more natural diet and will allow them to experience natural grazing and foraging which is something they have not been able to do for many years.

The sanctuary will be more accessible to visitors being only 1 hour from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast and we will, hopefully, be able to accept visitors much more regularly.

With the addition of a homestead on site Cranky’s FARM will now be manned 24/7.  This will have a major impact on the types of residents we will be able to accept as previously we have been unable to take in residents who need full-time care.  We look forward now to being able to take in infants, birds and those who require just a little bit of extra attention.

Phase 2:

More information coming soon.

Phase benefits:

This phase should see us able to offer a more interactive experience for those wishing to visit the sanctuary and enable us to educate more people about the lives and treatment of farmed animals.

Phase 3:

More information coming soon.

Phase benefits:

We are hoping this phase will bring more non-vegan visitors to the sanctuary, enabling us to reach and educate a wider range of people.
